Finishes
Black Oxide on Stainless
Black Oxide is a low glare finish that does not change the feel or sound of the putter. Most modern putters are Stainless Steel.
Black Oxide on Carbon Steel
Black Oxide on stainless comes in three sheens (shiny, satin & matte). You can tell if you have a carbon steel putter if a magnet sticks to it.
Candy White
Candy White also known as “ghost” finish is a polymer application that goes on stainless, carbon or aluminum. Great contrast on the greens
Raw Stainless
Raw stainless steel putter finishes are the most popular for durability and a classic look. The raw finish is a great pallet for all paint fill colors.
Element29 - Stainless Steel
Element29 is a copper tint finish for stainless steel. It can be applied in shiny, satin or matte. We recommend matte for low glare and durability.
Indigo on Carbon Steel
Indigo is a raw finish for carbon steel that has a blue tent. This finish looks great with dark blue, light blue, lime green and white paint fills.
Whiskey on Carbon Steel
Whiskey is a deep brown finish for carbon steel putters. Shiny has “oil movement” where satin and matte are a deep brown with a consistent color.
Fuel on Carbon Steel
Fuel is a finish for carbon steel that is most commonly done in a shiny sheen. Fuel is know for its ambers, blues, and oranges in the oil like surface.
Tuxedo
Tuxedo is a finish that is best for Aluminum putters and putters with inserts. This black polymer finish has minimal glare and even black appearanceFinish Wear & Maintenance
All golf equipment wears – this is true if you get a custom finish from Putter Lounge or if you play a piece of equipment right from a major manufacturer. We play on imperfect surfaces and are imperfect people. Raw finishes on carbon (black oxide on carbon, fuel, indigo, whiskey) need to be kept dry and in a cover when not in use. Raw finishes are more prone to rusting because of the use of carbon steel.
Black Oxide does not accelerate rust, in fact it is a preventative. This is a common misunderstanding. Putters rust due to exposure to moisture for prolonged periods of time. The most common cause is being left in a wet head cover. You can use baby oil to preserver your finish and protect it from rusting.
Premium putters should be kept dry and in head covers when not in use.
Combination Finishes
